Results - FINAL

I'm not going to go on and on about the season finale, other than it was sad to see Brett (who I thought would win it from the start) not win the final immunity challenge and therefore get voted out.  However, I was glad that Russell H did not win it all, although he was a good villain to watch in the show.

So in the pool, there were three tribal councils, and every entry that had Natalie, the sole survivor, got double the points at the end.  Note:  I didn't award enough points last week per survivor remaining in all the entries (only 65 compared to 70) so I made that fix before calculating the final results.  I included the results per tribal council in the final episode on the right side shaded in gray.  Here are the prize winners:

  • First place:  Michelle, $330
  • Second place:  Tone, $130
  • Third place:  DW, $100
  • Fourth place:  Bob, $70
  • Last place:  Sheena, $30
Sheena stole last place from Louie when neither of his last two picks were voted out at the first tribal council.  DW won third place by picking contestant names out of a hat, while I know Tone spends some time analyzing his picks and Bob to a lesser degree.  Since season 10 when I started keeping real stats, Tone has won a total of $352 in my pool and Bob has won $194.  Michelle and Sheena, I need your mailing addresses!

I hope everyone had a good time either watching the show or watching the weekly pool standings.  Season 20 starts in February (past heroes vs. past villains), and I invite everyone to come back and bring more people with them (I can calculate results pretty fast now, no matter how many entries).  Thanks everyone for another fun season and have a great holiday!!

Jay

Results - week 13

This episode showed Brett fighting for his life in the game, as the four old Foa Foa tribe stayed true to their alliance and voted out Shambo (Shannon) because Brett won immunity again.  Russell did not play his immunity idol at tribal council, which was pretty cocky since it was his last chance to play it - I would have liked to have seen that backfire in his face.

Only 12 people in the pool had Shambo, but her leaving secured the top 2 prizes.  Michelle and Tone are at the top and have the remaining 5 contestants and so have secured 1st and 2nd places respectively.  Bob, who is the only other entry that has all 5 contestants may take third place, depending on the order the remaining contestants are voted out. Fourth place is still up in the air, and Louie at the bottom is hoping at least one of his picks gets voted out fast, before someone like Sheena steals last place from him.

Remember, this Sunday is the season finale.  If you pick the winner you get double the normal points for that final tribal council.  Have a great weekend!

Results - week 12

Two tribal councils in this episode!  First, after Jaison won immunity at the bowling challenge, the old Foa Foa decide to keep their word with Shambo and help her vote off Dave.  Then Brett wins immunity, and the rest of the Foa Foa tribe are too scared to try voting off Russell so they all vote off Monica instead, but not before she stirs the pot a little.

Because there were two tribal councils for the same group of contestants in one episode, the pool treats those as separate rounds or weeks.  To explain, because Monica lasted one more tribal council than Dave, entries that had Monica deserve points for picking Monica to last in the game longer than Dave (even if she got voted off in the same episode).

So at the top of the pool, I moved into third place, but I'm not celebrating because anything can still happen, especially if Shambo ends up in the finals.  The darkhorse to come from behind and win 3rd or 4th place this week is 12th place Bob, who still has 5 of the remaining 6 contestants.  But like I said, contestant Shambo could throw a wrench in his, Tone's and Michelle's plans by lasting to the end.  At the bottom of the pool, Sheena is praying for Mick to get voted off soon to claim the last place prize.

Two more episodes in the season, next Thursday and Sunday!  Have a great weekend everyone,
Jay

Results - week 11

Another big blindside this week!  First of all, Jaison spent all of his auction money on a item that paid off for him at the immunity challenge, as it helped him win immunity - not that he was ever going to be on the chopping block.  Dave made Shambo angry, giving her his two cents on how the chicken she was cooking should be cooked.  What made me angry is that the show never let us know if Dave was right or not about the chicken.  Anyway, Shambo vowed to vote him off and Russell told her all the old Foa Foa tribemates would vote with her.  However, Russell changed his mind after he had to fess up to John that he had the immunity idol, and all of old Foa Foa followed Russell's lead and got John voted off instead, much to the surprise and disappointment of Shambo.  Next episode will be interesting to see her reaction.

39 entries had John.  Here's a quick breakdown of the pool:

  • Tone moved into 2nd place but will never be able to beat Michelle since they have the same picks left.
  • Amy and Judy are looking to come from behind and steal some prize money.
  • The top 16 people all have Mick, the most popular pick in the pool.  If he leaves anytime soon, it could give Tara K some hope for winning a prize.
  • At the bottom, Sheena is the first to be down to 1 pick - Mick.  Anyone above her that has Mick can no longer win last place.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Jay

Results - week 10

Another great episode tonight!  I'm surprised at how good this season is!  Russell found the immunity idol again - for the third time - but this time by seeing the video clue that he and four others won at the reward challenge.  Lucky for him this time, he didn't have to use it as Shambo and the old Foa Foa tribe voted for Laura and the old Galu tribe all voted for Natalie which resulted in a 5-5 tie.  During the re-vote John, not wanting to leave his fate in the game to chance, switched sides and changed his vote to Laura, who was ultimately voted out.  Shambo was all smiles as soon as Laura had no chance of winning the immunity challenge.

31 entries in the pool had Laura.  Not too much changed at the top and bottom.  This week's darkhorse for a come-from-behind prize is Tara K, who is currently in 20th but will no doubt rise many ranks in the coming weeks.

Have a great weekend everyone,
Jay

Results - week 9

Another pretty good episode!  Russell finds his second immunity idol without a clue, or even knowing a third one existed (he didn't know Erik, who was voted out last week, found the second one but didn't tell anyone).  Knowing all the former Galu tribe was going to vote for him, all that Russell and his three other friends had to do was decide who to vote off and have Russell play his idol at tribal council.  Since Laura won individual immunity again, the former Foa Foa tribe decided to vote off Kelly, who never saw it coming.  Although I don't like Russell, the look of disbelief on the former Galu people as Russell played his idol (correctly this time) was entertaining.  They had even brushed off the thought that he might have found an idol again.

22 entries in the pool had Kelly, including Louie at the bottom, who only has two picks left.  Michelle remains at the top with 8 of the 10 contestants left in the game.  This week's darkhorse is Monique, who climbed 11 spots to 29th and still has 6 picks left.

Have a great weekend everyone,
Jay

Results - week 8

Tonight's episode was pretty good!  The tribes's merged into one - 4 from Foa Foa, 8 from Galu.  Evil Russell put everything in motion to vote off Laura, but she won immunity, so then Erik was blindsided - a result of his over-cockiness, scheming, and telling the rest of them "how it's going to be".  He joins the long list of survivors who got voted off before they could play their immunity idol.  The episode was suspenseful till near the very end.  And evil Russell was as cocky and offensive as ever (in his interviews).

Erik was the second most popular pick in the pool - 45 entries had him.  So the minority of entries that didn't have him jumped up relatively high in rankings.  Michelle is still the top dog to beat, having 8 picks remaining out of 11 left on the show.

In the preview for next episode, it looks like evil Russell might be in trouble because everyone's onto him.  Have a great weekend everyone,
Jay

Results - week 7

So Foa Foa is still losing... first they lost the memory game reward challenge and then the physical/puzzle immunity challenge.  It's funny how evil Russel is whining about how they're down in numbers compared to the other tribe, when he was the one poisoning his own tribe from the start - claiming to be weeding out the week and making everyone his zombies.  Looks like that strategy is working out for him.

So the Foa Foa tribe voted out Liz.  27 entries in the pool had her, including top-place Michelle who is now tied with 3 others with 8 picks left, and last-place Louie (that has a nice ring to it) who is the only one to have only 3 picks left.

Next week the tribes merge into one, according to the preview, and it also looks like the Galu tribe goes after their own tribemates rather than eliminating the other smaller tribe.  That's dumb.  Have a happy Halloween everyone,

Jay

Results - week 6

Pretty dramatic episode tonight.  The rain continued the pound the contestants endlessly - but both evil Russell (Hantz) of the Foa Foa tribe and good Russell (Swan) of the Galu tribe were not deterred by it.  Both of them did some campwork while their tribemates fought for warmth.  Unfortunately, good Russell pushed his body too hard and at the reward challenge passed out twice, causing the challenge to be cancelled and for him to be medically evacuated and taken out of the game.  Even Jeff the host said it was the scariest moment of all 19 seasons of Survivor.  This event saved both tribes from having to vote out one of their own, which was the plan.  It's sad to see good Russell leave the game that way... it would have been interesting to see him against evil Russell when the tribes merge.

26 entries in the pool had Russel Swan, except for Michelle, who remains perfect at the top and continues to build her total points lead.  There's still a 3-way tie for last place.  Have a good weekend everyone.

Results - week 5

Tonight's episode was just alright... I don't have too much to say.  The tribes ate pretty gross stuff at the reward challenge, and Ashley pretty much sealed her fate by throwing up and losing it for her tribe.  The purple Galu tribe was feeling the pain from not choosing the tarp from their reward challenge victory a few episodes ago, because the rain pummeled both tribes pretty hard for days.  And Liz figured out that Russell H probably has one of the immunity idols.  We'll see how that plays out next week.

Only 20 people in the pool had Ashley.  Michelle still remains perfect at the top end there is now a 3-way tie for last place.  Have a great weekend everyone,

Jay

Results - week 4

Pretty interesting show this week.  The reward challenge was only completed by 3 people from each tribe, and was a bocce ball challenge (something my office knows all about)!  The final shot by contestant Dave on the losing purple Galu team was so clutch, so crucial, so climactic... and so dramatic when he turned it into the winning shot!  I haven't seen a bocce ball shot like that since Denise's last shot in the finals against my team, her shot that turned the tides and won the tournament at our office xmas party (in the snow no less!).  Denise, I'm still pretty bitter about that.

Anyways, back to the show... Erik from the Galu team found the immunity idol hidden at their camp using the clues Shambo told him, and Shambo lost a chicken won from their reward challenge.  But when Galu lost the immunity challenge, the tribe chose not to vote out Monica, who performed the worst at the challenge, but instead voted out Yasmin, who performed well at challenges but didn't do much around camp.

In the pool, Michelle is the only one standing with no picks lost, and there are still two tied for last place.  It's way too early in the show for anyone to be confident though.  See y'all next week.

Results - week 3

Results - week 3

Well, the self-destructing yellow Foa Foa tribe lost the combined reward/immunity challenge again.  I thought the innovation behind the challenge was pretty lame.  I'm not going to get into the Jaison/Ben conflict, but I will say that I don't know why evil Russell Hantz is so smug about being the puppeteer of a losing tribe, and all because of his doing.  When or if the tribe's merge, his idol might save him from one tribal council, but I think he won't last past two.

Anyway, tribe Foa Foa got rid of the poison of the tribe, Ben, who was one of the more popular picks in the pool - he looked good on paper before the show started anyways.  Only 3 pool entries remain unscathed at the top so far, and 2 entries at the bottom have lost all four contestants that have been booted to date.

Have a great weekend everyone.  I'll be posting the results from Thunder Bay next week.

Results - week 2

Results - week 2

I can't believe it... a couple of firsts in Survivor history tonight:  Ben got kicked out of the tribal immunity challenge because he was too aggressive after everyone was warned; and evil Russell (Hantz) found the immunity idol in a tree without a single clue, AND he was able to stuff it in his underwear with 4 people around him.  Does he deserve the immunity idol?  You may think not, but it does show how much he knows about this game.

Also, this may be the first time a tribe had to still go to tribal council even after having losing a member due to doctor's orders.  Mike's blood pressure was way too low (I think it was probably from the exhaustion from the energy spent in the challenge, and the hard hits he took probably didn't help too much) so he was forced out of the game by the Survivor doctor; then Betsy was voted off because of her age and some of evil Russell's coaxing.  The yellow tribe now has 3 people less than the purple one.

So two contestants were removed from the game this week, and the pool has only 12 at the top remaining unscathed from the beginning.  Six entries had both of the contestants and felt the pain.

Survivor Samoa results - week 1

Results - week 1

Welcome back everyone!  To view the results, just click the image above.  The reason I'm posting the results this way is because the results are now too long to paste into an email - we have 66 entries this year, the biggest ever!  I will still email the results as a pdf file, but the advantages of using this blog is so that you can now leave comments about the pool or the show, and you can bookmark it to come back and check it as often as you wish!

About the show - not much more I can say besides the Russell Hantz guy is downright evil and crazy; but who knows, that may work out for him for a while.  But the thing I don't get is that you'd think that after 18 seasons, contestants would know that you have to keep the tribe strong until the merge so you can vote off the other tribe.  You don't start going after your tribemates right away and creating bad chemistry.  Ah well.

So the prizes are: 1st = $330, 2nd = $130, 3rd = $100, 4th = $70, Last = $30.  Can you believe you can triple your entry fee by being the best at sucking at the pool? (unless you're doing it intentionally).  Oh, if you're mailing me a cheque, my last name is Dela Cruz.

So go on, please post your comments below (click on the Comments link) if you have any on the pool or show - I'd love to hear your thoughts for once instead of just me blabbering on!  Don't forget to sign your name so we know who the comment is from!
